When the air starts to cool and the decorations start popping up in stores, we know it’s time to pull out the spooky yarn stash. Over the years we’ve made everything from quick little appliques to big statement bags, and each one has its own story. Some were happy accidents, others were special requests, a few were carefully planned out, but all of them have become part of our go-to Halloween collection. We thought it would be fun to round up a list of our absolute favorite projects we’ve loved making and loved sharing. Here are some projects that you can still make for this season (and every season after)!

Bat Bandana
aka the Bat-dana. This is one of the very first spooky wearables we made that quickly became a favorite! The bandana itself is fun to make and wear, but it’s the little crochet bats that steal the show. We love that it’s something you can actually wear out and about, from fall festivals to a casual day out.
We’ve got a full pattern for the bat bandana plus a tutorial just for the bat if you want to add it to other projects – keep reading for more ideas!

Halloween Bag
The halloween bag is one of those projects that checks all the boxes. It’s a perfect canvas for all the appliques we designed: bats, ghosts, spiders, spiderwebs, and pumpkins. Each applique has its own little personality and when they’re all stitched onto the bag together, it’s just the ultimate Halloween party. You can use whatever color squares you want, but we chose these vibrant orange, purple, and green squares – mixed with some traditional black & white.
The tutorial for each applique is on YouTube, and we also have a complete written pattern for those who want the whole set: appliques, square, and bag patterns. It’s a project that takes some time, but the end result is pure Halloween magic.

Ghost Chapstick Holder
Small projects often surprise us with how much joy they bring, and this ghost chapstick holder is proof of that. It’s quick to make, easy to use, and fun to give as a gift. Clip it to your keys, attach it to your bag, or keep one in the car. Your chapstick can’t get any cuter than this!
The pattern is included in our Halloween Applique Pattern Collection (along with all the other spooky appliques.)

Bat Bag
Bats keep finding a way into our designs and the bat bag is one of the best results of that obsession and what led us to create the Halloween Bag. This bat bag was made with one of our favorite cotton yarns – I Love This Cotton (print) in the color Domino Effect. It’s the kind of accessory that gets comments every time you wear it, which makes it such a fun piece to make.
The tutorial for the bat applique is on YouTube and the tote bag pattern is available separately. We also have a complete written pattern for those who want the whole set: appliques, square, and bag patterns.

Granny Square Pumpkin
Pumpkins are everywhere in the fall, and we couldn’t resist giving ours a granny square spin. To make it extra-Halloween themed, we swapped traditional fall colors for a color palette of purple, green, black, and white – and it turned out to be such a standout piece. The combination of granny squares and seasonal shapes makes it unique, and it’s become one of the patterns people ask about most.

Bat AirPods Cases
Possibly the cutest project on this list, the bat AirPods cases are the perfect accessory for bat lovers. These little cases came from a mix of function and fun. We couldn’t resist turning our original AirPods case pattern into a spooky accessory. Once you finish one, it’s hard not to make a whole colony of them.
If you’re a fan of tutorials, we have each separate, the AirPods case & the Bat applique. Or, if you prefer a written pattern, you can grab the AirPods case pattern & the Halloween Applique Pattern Collection.

Spooky Magnets
We made these magnets as a “filler project” one year when we needed something quick to share. They turned out to be way more popular than we expected. Because they’re small and fast, you can make a bunch in no time, and then suddenly your fridge is full of bats and spiders. Just hot glue them onto a small magnet! It’s one of those projects that taught us never to underestimate the power of a tiny crochet idea.
If you’re a fan of tutorials, we have each of the appliques separate. Or, if you prefer a written pattern, you can grab the Halloween Applique Pattern Collection.

Spooky Tree with Ornaments
This project has become the centerpiece of our seasonal decorating. A sparkly tree dressed in handmade ornaments feels both whimsical and haunting, and the best part is that it’s never really finished. Each year we can add more ornaments, making it bigger and more personal.
If you’re a fan of tutorials, we have each of the appliques separate. Or, if you prefer a written pattern, you can grab the Halloween Applique Pattern Collection.

Spooky season always gets our creativity flowing, and these projects are the ones that have stuck with us the most. Each one has its own story, from quick little experiments to big statement pieces that shaped whole pattern collections. Happy haunting, and happy hooking!
